Course Content

Each course module provides training on the concepts and applications of Canvas ACT-Art. With over 4 hours in content.

Module 1

Introduction and Foundations

  • Understand the need for psychological flexibility and its impact on life quality.

  • Learn the theoretical foundations of ACT, including its origins in behavior analysis and Relational Frame Theory (RFT).

Module 3

Implementation & Assessment

  • Master the use of assessment tools (VDBA, FVA, My Values Worksheet, FQ) to create individualized treatment plans.

  • Develop measurable, values-aligned goals in collaboration with clients.

  • Design art-based interventions that reflect and reinforce ACT processes.

Module 2

Integrating Art into ACT

  • Explore how art enhances psychological flexibility by bridging key ACT processes (Defusion, Acceptance, Values Clarification).

  • Learn specific art-based techniques for promoting mindfulness, emotional expression, and self-exploration.

Module 4

Ethical & Practical Considerations

  • Understand ethical considerations when integrating art into ABA practice, ensuring adherence to BACB guidelines.

  • Learn methods for maintaining treatment fidelity and monitoring progress through data collection.

Module 5: Live Session

Final Integration & Strategies with Q & A

  • Use metaphors and art to simplify complex ACT concepts for clients.

  1. Describe the theoretical foundations of ACT and its six core processes (Defusion, Acceptance, Present Moment Awareness, Self-As-Context, Values Clarification, and Committed Action).

  3. Utilize art-based tools and techniques to design interventions that support the development of key ACT processes.

1 / How will I get access to the course?

Upon sign-up, you will receive instant access to the course page on this site, where every training module will go live each week (Starting Mondays) with a link provided to attend the live session at the end of course. Access to all training PPTs and materials will be on the course module pages. Be sure to bookmark the link when you receive it!

2 / When does each module go live?

Each module is will go live on Monday of each week and available on-demand and asynchronous. The final module will be a live session you can attend at the date provided. Date/Time will be announced and attendees who may not be able to make it will have access to the replay. This means you can complete at your own pace.

3 / How long will I have access to the course?

You will have LIFETIME access to the course and its materials.

3 / Can I join the course if I'm not a BCBA?

You are welcome to join the course even if you are just a student, teacher, parent, or other type of clinician. A non-CEU training option is available.

3 / How is this different from the original course?

This training provides an expanded version of the Canvas ACT-Art curriculum training, and provides guidance on applications.

4 / What if I cannot attend the live session?

If you are unable to attend the live portion of the course, a replay will be made available. You will still be able to complete the course if you watch the replay and complete the competency survey for your CEU certificate.
